The Monkey Saver
By Jhadiel Perez and Rachel Petherbridge

Once upon a time, there was a brown dog that lived under the highway next to the beach. Then the dog went to a random home. The dog was very happy in that home. The family who lived there included a mom, a dad, an older son and a set of twins—one boy and one girl.

One day the dog left to find food. While looking for food in a nearby alley, the dog came across a grumpy-looking old man. The man put him in a cage. The little brown dog was so scared! He didn't want to go with the man in the cage. The man started to put the cage in his truck. Right before the door closed, a monkey swung in, unlocked the door to the cage and the dog escaped!

The dog turned to the monkey and said, “Thank you for letting me out.”

Then they went through the window and took the man out. They were such a good team in escaping the man and then taking him out, they decided to help other animals escape captivity. But first! The monkey had to teach the little brown dog how to lockpick. And when he learned, he lockpicked the door of the truck. After lockpicking the door to the truck, they took the keys from the unconscious man and drove it to a dog park. When they got there, another dog came by and he said, “Here is some food.”

The little brown dog finally got some food!
