The Great Apocalypse

By Sebastian Araujo

There was a family in the woods that had a large farm. A boy, his little brother, and his parents lived there. The boy's name was Sebastian, and his little brother's name was Felix. Sebastian and his brother loved to play Minecraft. One day, Sebastian and Felix were playing Minecraft together in a basement that was almost impossible to break into. It had 30 sets of armor and camo gear with weapons for the apocalypse, for some reason. Their parents did not know about the basement.

They were having a lot of fun when the main computer started to alert them that something was happening around the world. Someone hacked all the existing computers and a message popped up. It said that a mutated pug escaped a high-security lab. The report said the pug was broken out by someone who disguised themselves as a scientist.

Sebastian wanted to tell his best friend Beckham. Beckham lived about half a mile away from Sebastian’s house. Sebastian rode his bike to Beckham's house. When he got there, someone was riding a giant pug. Wait, Sebastian thought, isn't that the mutant pug from the computers?

Sebastian got the camo gear that was in his bag, and he watched the person riding the pug take off his helmet. It was Beckham. Sebastian knew he recognized that pug. It was Beckham's favorite pug that had died one year ago.

Or did it? Sebastian thought. Right before Beckham walked inside his house, he spotted the bike. He knew it was Sebastian's bike. Beckham knew Sebastian came there. Then he shouted, “You can come out now, Sebastian!”

Sebastian came out of the bush he was hiding in. Sebastian asked, “Beckham, why are you riding a mutant pug?”

“Not important about the details. We need to get this pug to the basement at your house. Do you have a secret entrance?” asked Beckham.

“Do I? I have a high-security bunker ready for the apocalypse. There's even a massive ship in there that is supplied to survive a lifetime and it can transform into anything. And how would I get it out? With a massive entrance of course,” said Sebastian.

Sebastian rode his bike while Beckham rode his mutant pug to Sebastian's house. Suddenly, they spotted helicopters in the sky. Sebastian and Beckham were closer to Beckham's house, so they went back.

In the wind, Sebastian yelled, “I forgot to tell you that there's an entrance to my basement in the back of your house that is massive. Also, it's opened by not wanting to go in. It's opened by mind reading and you have to not want to go in.”

When they got to the back of the house, Sebastian stopped.

I don't want to go to the entrance to my basement, Sebastian thought. Beckham watched as people and tanks arrived. Then, a massive elevator pulled them down and closed just before anyone else could get in. The elevator opened to a tunnel. When Beckham and Sebastian got to the end of the tunnel, they saw the comfiest beds ever. And there on a couch watching TV was Felix.

Then, an alarm blared. Felix did not pause the TV and ran to the computer and pulled up the security cams. People were marching through the tunnel and coming!

“Did we not finish the function where the entrance only opens when we do it?!” said Sebastian. Felix then replayed the security cameras outside of Beckham's house. They saw a soldier that looked scared. The entrance knew he didn't want to go in, so it opened.

“You have to be kidding me! I can't put the basement on lockdown! Get to the ship! Evacuate all the things! Go, Go, GO!” yelled Felix in the sound of the alarm.

Once everyone was in the ship and had brought everything, they took off just in the nick of time, because the tanks and soldiers had infiltrated the base.

Beckham then said, “Phew. That was close.”

      “So what's next?” asked Sebastian.

“We are going to have to relocate,” answered Beckham.

“Luckily me and my brother built a backup,” said Sebastian. Then something flared up on the main screen.

“Oh no. This is really, really bad,” said Felix. “The zombie apocalypse has begun.”

Sebastian is 10 years old.
